Lewes midfielder Bouwe Bosma has signed for Coventry City.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the club until June 2020, with the Sky Blues having the option of a one-year extension to the deal.

He will start as part of the Sky Blues' under-23 squad.

Lewes manager Darren Freeman did not want to lose the player, who made 37 appearances for the Rooks during last season's promotion campaign, but is happy to see one of his squad move into League football.

Freeman said: “That’s the sort of club we are, we’re not going to stand in a player’s way.

"That’s another player who’s gone on to a professional club and hopefully that shows young players that we can help them achieve their dreams.”

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “Bouwe is a player who has been identified through our recruitment process as having the attributes and ability to make the step up to a higher level, so we are pleased to bring him in from Lewes FC.

“He has been signed with an eye on the future and will be based initially with the Under 23s squad as he continues to put in the hard work required for his development as a footballer, and we look forward to seeing him progress.”

Albion's Jordan Maguire-Drew spent time on loan with Coventry last season as they won promotion to League One via the play-offs.
