Record signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Florin Andone made their first appearances for Albion today as they won their penultimate friendly 1-0 in Nice.

The £17 million Iranian winger (below) and Romanian striker played in the first half of the run-out behind closed doors at Nice's training complex.

The Argus: Boss Chris Hughton took a squad of 22 to the Cote d'Azur. He used them all with the exception of non-playing captain Bruno in hot conditions, making seven changes at the interval and three more in the second half against Patrick Vieira's fringe side.

Under-23s forward Viktor Gyokeres came off the bench to score the only goal 18 minutes from time.

Markus Suttner's cross was flicked onto Glenn Murray, he headed down to Davy Propper and Gyokeres was on hand for a tap-in.

Hughton told The Argus: "Overall it was a very good exercise, a good run-out for us.

"It was hot conditions but, come the first game of the season at Watford, it might be hot then as well.

The Argus: "We managed to get Florin and Alireza 45 minutes, which was good and always the plan, and we gave (Yves) Bissouma (above) an hour, which was good as well."

Albion's final friendly is against Nice's Ligue 1 rivals Nantes at the Amex on Friday evening (7.45pm). They open their second campaign in the Premier League against Watford at Vicarage Road eight days later.

Albion first half: Ryan; Schelotto, Duffy, Balogun, Bong; March, Kayal, Bissouma, Jahanbakhsh; Andone, Hemed.
