Albion wideman Jiri Skalak has completed his move to Millwall.

The Czech international drops down to the Championship in the quest for first-team football.

Millwall open their season on Saturday at home to Middlesbrough.

Albion manager Chris Hughton said: “Jiri is a great character and I cannot fault his professionalism or work rate since arriving at the club.

“He has played his part in helping the club win promotion to the Premier League and has been a brilliant player to have in and around the squad.

“We understand his desire to play regular first team football and wish him all the very best for his future.”

The fee is undisclosed but is believed to potentially exceed the club record £800,000 Millwall paid Derby for striker Paul Goddard almost 30 years ago if add-ons are met.

Millwall have described the deal as "long-term".

Skalak spent two-and-a-half years with Albion after signing from Czech outfit Mlada Boleslav.

He has attracted widespread interest this summer.
