MILLWALL have revealed they landed Albion winger Jiri Skalak at the third time of asking.

The Czech wideman yesterday signed what is being described as a “multi-year” deal at The Den.

He could make his debut at home to Middlesbrough tomorrow.

Lions boss Neil Harris plays 4-4-2 and has been keen to get the Czech on board since this time last year.

Harris said: “He’s a player I have tried to bring to the club on two separate occasions in transfer windows and it has not quite materialised for whatever reason.

“He’s a player we have seen a lot and comes highly recommended, not just from our recruitment department but from all connected at Brighton.

“He’s a player who fits our style of play.

“He comes with great references as a character. He’s an extremely hard-working player and he has got some real ability as well. His crossing ability is very good off both feet.”

Skalak failed to play a single minute in the Premier League after helping Albion to promotion.

He said: “Last season was hard. I didn’t play a lot, just cup games.

“If you get a chance to play you can be a better player and that’s what I missed.”

The fee for Skalak remains undisclosed but it is believed it would break the club record £800,000 Millwall paid Derby for striker Paul Goddard almost 30 years ago if all add-ons are met.
