PASCAL GROSS will go into the new season on a high after picking up where he left off.
The German scored the winner last night as Albion beat Nantes 2-1 at the Amex.
Gross, who hit the last two goals at home last term, said: “I thought we played some good football.
“For me it is always more important to help the team defensively with my composure on the ball.
“But after I score a goal or assist a goal, it gives me self confidence for the season and that is what I want.”
He added: “We still can improve but it was a positive test.”
Tomer Hemed, who set up Gross’s winner, also scored himself.
And Shane Duffy twice had efforts ruled out from corners.
Gross said: “I think we played against a good French team.
“We had some good combinations and chances.
“Also some good set plays. Shane was unlucky and deserved a goal.”
