Lewes lost their 100 per cent record with a dour goalless draw against Braintree but manager Steven King is predicting a thriller in today's derby at Bognor.

Rooks, with three victories from their first three matches, were unable to breakdown the visitors who put ten men behind the ball and were happy to stifle the game.

King said: "Braintree came with a game plan to stifle the match with ten men behind the ball. They didn't create anything and tried to rough us up. The attitude was a compliment to us but difficult to play against.

"Yet we showed we could mix it with them and kept our first clean sheet.

"It will be like chalk and cheese when we play Bognor because they like to play an open, passing game and we've no injury problems."

King singled out centre-back Steve Robinson, making his 100th appearance for the club, for a solid defensive performance in a match in which chances were at a premium.

He said: "Robbo was outstanding and a big reason we kept the clean sheet. He was good in the air and quick on the ground. He gives everything."

Lewes: Williams, Conroy, Barness, Robinson, Simpbemba, Drury (Watts), Holloway, Wormull (Cade), Selley, Binns, Booth (O'Connor).

Bognor boss Jack Pearce has warned his players to cut out individual mistakes.

And he has threatened to ring the changes if the errors are not eliminated.

Rocks slumped to their third defeat in four games when they lost 2-1 at Bromley.

Pearce said: "You cannot legislate for individual errors and that's what's been happening.

"The mistakes have been out of keeping with the performances of the players who are making them but we are in the results business.

"I'll have to make changes if things don't improve.

"We made a mistake for their goal and Darren Budd had three golden opportunities to either score or put someone else in.

"We were the better side for long periods but God isn't on our side. We've conceded nine goals in four matches, mostly self-inflicted."

Bognor levelled with a well-worked 19th-minute goal from Dan Beck after Bromley opened the scoring through Gareth McCleary after five minutes. But Gareth Williams scored the winner five minutes from time after Rocks has been forced to reorganise at the back after an injury to Andrew Pearson, 17, an Albion scholar who is on work experience.

Pearson is ruled out of today's match against Lewes with an eye injury.

Bognor: Stoner, Ray, Knee, Budd, Breach, Pearson (Wallis-Taylor), Greatwich, Harris (Marshall), Nightingale, Beck, Rowland (Johnson).

Full-back Jay Lovett was the unlikely hero as Eastbourne Borough jumped to second in the league.

Lovett hit the winner with eight minutes left as Borough defeated St Albans 3-2.

Scott Ramsay scored twice in the first half to take his tally to four as Borough cruised into a two-goal lead.

But Saints, who included former Albion defender Gary Elphick in their line-up, roared back to level through Danny Morgan and Mark Beard in the 40th and 50th minutes.

Manager Garry Wilson said: "We were screaming at Jay to get back but were glad he hung around up front in the end. "

Defender Dan Baker (knee) is an injury doubt for Borough's home match against Havant and Waterlooville today.

Eastbourne Borough: Hook, Baker, Lovett, Smart, Austin, Pullan, Harding, Armstrong, Ramsay, Atkin (Chamberlain 85), M. Crabb (N. Crabb).
