Luke Wright is fit, ready and on the bus to Sussex’s big Twenty20 night.

But they will not have to face Durham’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes at the Riverside tomorrow.

England have told Stokes to rest a niggle at the back of his left knee ahead of the fourth Test against India.

He sits out their Vitality Blast quarter-final against Sussex.

Wright missed this week’s Championship win over Derbyshire as he protected a troublesome back.

But he has trained and was on board as Sussex left Hove yesterday evening bound for a stop-over in Leicester.

They continue the journey north today.

Sharks boss Jason Gillespie said: “He’s fine. This week we left him out of the squad for the four-dayer just to make sure.

“He pulled up a bit sore on Saturday so we took the conservative option.

“He has had a couple of hits, he will be doing bits in the strong room and he will be good to go.”

Gillespie has played down Sussex’s first T20 knockout tie for three years.

He said: “It’s a game of cricket and we are really looking forward to it. We don’t see it as a bigger game.”

Sussex will show the televised quarter-final in the Long Room at the 1st Central County Ground.

Doors open at 5.30pm and the bar will be open. There is no admission charge.
