Ben Barclay admits Charlie Austin's late winner for Southampton ruined his big night at the Amex.
Barclay and under-23s team-mates Will Collar and Viktor Gyokeres were handed their first team debuts by Albion boss Chris Hughton in the Carabao Cup.
Barclay and Brazilian Bernardo formed an inexperienced centre-half partnership which kept experienced Italian striker Manolo Gabbiadini off the scoresheet before Charlie Austin (No.10) nodded Saints through to round three (below) from fellow sub Nathan Redmond's cross with two minutes left.
Barclay, 21, told The Argus: "It does (ruin it). If it's your debut, whether you have a good game or not, if you concede at the death it's going to be frustrating.
"He (Hughton) congratulated us young lads. He thought we did well, it was a good test for us. For me and Will it was our senior debuts in any league, we've not been out on loan.
"The changes that they made, they brought on fresh legs, good players, so it was difficult for us."
