Former Albion midfielder Romain Vincelot could help Crawley ease a managerial headache.
The Frenchman is among the senior pros expected to play a role when Harry Kewell, above, takes over at Notts County.
Reds and County discussed a compensation figure yesterday with indications that the deal could be wrapped up today.
Kewell is likely to be joined by assistant Warren Feeney.
Crawley go to Oldham on Saturday. Although there is no obvious caretaker figure within the Reds staff, senior players Danie Bulman and Vincelot could step up temporarily.
