Jofra Archer capped a momentous morning at Lord's with a key wicket.

Archer struck a vital blow with the last ball before lunch to give promotion chasers Sussex the edge on day two against Middlesex at Lord’s.

Nick Gubbins and Sam Robson looked to have negotiated a testing 35 minutes only for the former to be yorked by Archer, leaving the hosts 19-1 in their second innings.

Earlier, the country’s leading wicket taker James Harris (4-61) added two more to his collection, bowling Chris Jordan with a huge in-swinger before trapping the in-form Ben Brown (24) LBW.

Steven Finn and Ethan Bamber also took a wicket apiece to restrict the visitors to 171 all out, a first innings lead of two.

Archer is no stranger to important strikes at Lord's and has donated his signed Vitality Blast playing shirt to the MCC Museum.

He wore the shirt while producing his stunning hat-trick in the win over Middlesex at Lord’s earlier this month.

Archer accounted for England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan, who made 90, John Simpson and James Fuller.

He presented the shirt in person to MCC Curator of Collection, Adam Chadwick, on the second morning of Sussex’s current Specsavers County Championship match against Middlesex at the same ground.

Archer said: “I feel really honoured that MCC have asked me to donate my shirt to their museum, especially with it being a domestic T20 and not an international game.

“It only clicked after the third wicket that it might be three in a row! I was more focused on trying to close the game out than the hat-trick.”

Carl Fillery, CEO of Sharks' sponsors Boundless, added: “I was at the match against Middlesex and when Jofra bowled his hat trick we were all on our feet - it was an incredible atmosphere and an amazing achievement.

“We’re extremely proud to see a Sussex shirt hanging in the MCC Museum at Lord’s.”
