Rashid Khan is on his way back to Sussex.

But he will NOT be part of their team at Edgbaston for Vitality Blast finals day.

The Afghanistan spin star has signed up for the first half of next season’s Twenty20 campaign.

Rashid was a massive hit at Hove this summer and helped take Sharks to the brink of quarter-final qualification.

In his eleven appearances, Rashid took 17 wickets at an average of 14.35 and finished with an economy rate of just 6.59.

Although many Sussex fans would have loved to see him in action at Edgbaston on September 15, the way is now clear for Will Beer to aim to repeat his efforts on the same stage in 2009.

Beer, who shone in the final group game against Middlesex this year as well as the quarter-final at Durham, is one of two survivors from Sussex’s only T20 finals success, nine years ago.

Along with Luke Wright, he helped Sussex take the honours in Birmingham, claiming 2-29 against Somerset in the final.
