Glenn Murray is not a one-man attack for Albion.

Manager Chris Hughton is confident he has enough competition up front for the two-goal saviour of the home draw against Fulham.

Murray has scored three of Albion’s five goals this season following the second half double which rescued a point at the Amex, but Hughton does not believe they rely too heavily on the 34-year-old marksman.

He said: “No, because at the moment, he is in the team ahead of Locadia, who we like, perhaps simply because he has scored goals.

“If that changes and Glenn is not playing so well or isn’t scoring goals or has an injury, I’d like to think we have very good competition in Locadia and Andone to come back in.

“All players like to be kept on their toes, whether it’s competition or doing well, Glenn is no different.

“He had similar competition last January (Ulloa and Locadia) and it’s a long, hard season and Glenn’s form, the same as everyone else’s, will be up and down, he’ll be in the side or not in the side the same as everyone else. But at the minute Glenn is looking on the top of his game.”

Murray lost the role of penalty taker to Pascal Gross last season following two home failures.

Gross had a first half penalty saved by Fulham keeper Marcus Bettinelli and the German had been substituted when Murray equalised from the spot in the second half.

Hughton expects Murray to want the job back. He said: “I would think so but we try to keep as much in-house as possible and we’ve had a change.

“These are decisions you make and there will be another decision come the next game.

“Pascal, of course, scored against (Manchester) United and what might happen come the next game is Pascal’s on the penalties again. At the moment we will assess it and see, like we do most things.”
