Hope Powell says staying up is the target for Albion in the big league.

The Seagulls kick off life in the FA WSL when Bristol City visit their new home of the Broadfield Stadium tomorrow (2pm).

It is an historic weekend for the domestic women’s game as the top-flight goes fully professional for the first time.

It is also Albion’s first match in the top division.

Boss Powell said: “Success for me is staying in the division.

“Along the way, you set goals. We target teams we have a realistic chance of competing with.

“But, from my perspective, it is about staying in WSL.”

Summer signing Emily Simpkins is ruled out by injury.

The Argus:

Albion staged one match at Crawley last season, when they handed eventual WSL2 champions Doncaster their only defeat of the season.

Albion previously played on the 3G at Culver Road.

They have paid for a new, improved surface at Crawley.

Midfielder Kirsty Barton said: “The pitch is really nice and the facilities are great. We are looking forward to that being our home ground this season.

“We hope our fans make their way up to Crawley although I know it is hard for some of them.”

Limited free car parking is available at the ground and there are other free parking options nearby, which are signposted.

Redz Bar will be open from 12pm and there will also be attractions aimed at children provided just outside the ground.

Admission is available on the gate priced £10 for adults, £8 for under-21s and over-65 tickets, £7 for under-18s and £4 for under-tens at £4.
