Sussex have rested Twenty20 skipper Luke Wright ahead of Finals Day.
Both Wright and spinner Will Beer have been left out of the 13-man squad who play Durham in the Championship at Chester-le-Street from tomorrow.
The two men are likely to be key figures when Sussex Sharks go for glory in the Vitality Blast final four at Edgbaston on Saturday.
Seam bowler Abi Sakande and batsman Michael Burgess return to the squad.
Don't miss our Finals Day pullout in The Argus tomorrow
Wright has suffered back niggles this season and has twice been rested from Championship matches.
He has captained the T20 squad to their first Finals Day since 2012 and Sussex are taking no chances ahead of the weekend.
Beer’s omission is more tactical.
Sussex head coach Jason Gillespie told The Argus: “Luke Wright is rested to manage him and his body best and we felt that, with Will Beer, it was simply a case of not needing another spinner.
“We felt a back-up seamer was more appropriate for this trip.”
Sussex believe they are well covered for spin with Danny Briggs, Luke Wells and Delray Rawlins all in the squad which travelled to the North East.
Sussex: from Wells, Salt, Finch, Haines, Rawlins, Burgess, Brown, Wiese, Jordan, Archer, Robinson, Briggs, Sakande.
