ALBION boss Chris Hughton is sweating on three of his players avoiding injuries on international duty, with Shane Duffy on the brink of a club and country landmark.

Duffy, record buy Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Beram Kayal could all be in action today as the Seagulls prepare for their return to Premier League action at Southampton on Monday (8pm).

Duffy’s Republic of Ireland try to bounce back from their 4-1 drubbing by Wales in the Nations League in Cardiff last week when they visit Poland in a friendly at the Wroclaw Stadium (7.45pm).

Jahanbakhsh’s Iran and Kayal’s Israel also have respective friendlies against Uzbekistan in Tashkent (4pm) and Northern Ireland in Belfast (7.45pm).

Duffy will start in the centre of defence against Saints at St Mary’s, while Jahanbakhsh and Kayal are both likely to be among the substitutes.

Duffy will write himself into the record books if he is marking Polish skipper and Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

He currently has 16 full international caps as an Albion player.

That is one short of the number achieved by Gerry Ryan for the Republic of Ireland and fellow winger Steve Penney for Northern Ireland.

Lewandowski is on course for his 100th international cap this evening following Friday’s 99th appearance for Poland in their 1-1 Nations League Draw with Italy in Bologna.

Duffy has partnered Lewis Dunk and summer signing Leon Balogun in Albion’s opening four matches in the Premier League.

Dunk returned from ankle trouble in the Seagulls’ last outing, the 2-2 home draw with Fulham.

Duffy, Kayal, Jahanbakhsh, Balogun (Nigeria), Gaetan Bong (Cameroon), Davy Propper (Netherlands), Yves Bissouma (Mali) and Mathew Ryan (Australia) have all been involved in games or training camps with their countries since the Fulham clash.
