It will happen somewhere - but probably not at Southampton.

The next step for Albion's record signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh will be his full Premier League debut.

He may still have to wait a little while for that after a reminder during the international break of why the Seagulls splashed out around £17 million on the Iranian winger.

The Argus: Boss Chris Hughton and head of recruitment Paul Winstanley (above) travelled to Amsterdam to see Jahanbakhsh collect two awards for his exploits in Eredivisie last season.

Family members, including his mother and father (below), were also in attendance as Jahanbakhsh was honoured for finishing top scorer in the Dutch top flight with 21 goals for AZ Alkmaar.

The Argus: He was presented as well with the silver boot for the second-best player in the league behind Ajax midfielder and golden boot winner Hakim Ziyech.

Jahanbakhsh's prize double came days after his first start for Albion in the Carabao Cup defeat by Southampton at the Amex and appearance from the bench in the 2-2 home draw with Fulham.

He is likely to be among the substitutes again at St Mary's on Monday night following another outing for his country.

Jahanbakhsh played the opening 45 minutes of Iran's friendly against Uzbekistan in Tashkent this afternoon in the build-up to the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates in January.

His withdrawal in Iran's first fixture since the World Cup in Russia in the summer was tactical, not due to an injury. Iran won 1-0 with a second half goal by substitute Mehdi Torabi.
