MATHEW RYAN has urged Albion to raise their game in the next batch of matches after the international break.

The keeper says the Seagulls have “fallen short” so far in the Premier League and “haven’t been good enough” in key moments.

Albion resume at Southampton on Monday (8pm), then face tough assignments at home to Spurs and away to champions Manchester City.

Their last fixture before the next international break is against West Ham at the Amex.

Chris Hughton’s side took four points from the first four outings against Watford, Manchester United, Liverpool and Fulham.

They recovered from 2-0 down to take a point against Fulham, but that has still left them behind where Ryan wanted to be.

He told The Argus: “It’s been a mixed bag really, ups and downs of a season I guess. We’ve been good in patches, needed to do better in other patches.

“All in all, four points from four games, our target is always to have at least equal or more points than games played.

“But I think we’ve fallen short the way I view it. There have been little moments in games where we haven’t been good enough and that’s hurt us. I had aimed to have more points than we have at the moment, but the season’s long and the goal is to get as many as we can.

“We need to learn from what we are doing wrong, keep at the things we are doing right, and hopefully that will take us to where we need to be.”

Ryan has been on Australia’s training camp in Turkey under new head coach Graham Arnold since the Fulham game.

The Socceroos have matches at home to Korea and Lebanon in November in preparation for their defence of the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates in January, which will rule Ryan out of Premier League fixtures.
