GLENN MURRAY has vowed to carry on scoring goals for Albion once he joins the hundred club.

The Seagulls’ attacking spearhead goes into tonight’s game at Southampton on 97 goals, two short of Kit Napier’s post-War record and three shy of a century.

Only Tommy Cook (123) and record-holder Bert Stephens (174) have reached three figures in Albion’s history.

Murray told The Argus: “I’m aware of it but it’s another number.

“When and if I do hit the hundred it’s not like job done, it’s another one, two, three, four.

“It will be nice to look back on but it’s not about getting there and stopping, it’s about getting there and carrying on.

“It will be a great achievement to score 100 goals for the club, especially this club where I’ve spent a lot of time, lived in the city for a long time now.

“So hopefully when I do get to that landmark it will be a proud moment – but it will be a pause.”

Adding to the tally at Southampton (8pm) after scoring against them in both Premier League meetings last season would be an early birthday present for Murray, 35 next week.

He is careful about what he eats in order to prolong his career but admits he will have a birthday cake to celebrate as a “one-off”.

Murray said: “To stay in the game as long as possible you’ve got to open up your mind to different things that once you were deadly against, move with the times and take everything that’s on offer.

“I do think of my diet, just try to eat less, load a bit more going into games, eat a bit cleaner. Less cake!

“Just a little bit cleaner living, a little bit lighter so you can get around a bit easier, less pressure on the joints and things. I’ve found it’s worked for me.”
