Danny Ings is the next striker threat to Albion at St Mary's tonight.

Romelu Lukaku, Mo Salah and Alexandar Mitrovic have been on target against the Seagulls in their last three matches in the Premier League.

Now they have to deal with Ings, who has scored twice in four games since joining Southampton from Liverpool.

Ings was on target in Saints' victory at Crystal Palace prior to the international break. The rest has given the former Burnley and Bournemouth marksman more time to recover from a bad blister.

Albion manager Chris Hughton said: "You can have strikers and you can have number nines. A classic number nine that's a hold up player or a classic number nine that's a runner.

"I think with him he has very good attributes in the forward area. If you want someone who can run behind, that's very much him with his pace.

"If you want someone who can link a bit more, play a little bit more like a number ten, he can do that.

"I heard one of his interviews and he spoke very, very well about his time at Liverpool. Even though he didn't play as many games as he would have liked because of injury, I think his experience at Liverpool has helped his all-round game. And at the moment we are seeing that."

Ings was a regular for England under-21s under Gareth Southgate (below).

The Argus: He won a full cap during Roy Hodgson's reign and Southampton boss Mark Hughes believes the 26-year-old is capable of forcing his way back into the England reckoning now that Southgate is in charge of the senior side.

Hughes said: "The importance for Danny is to get regular football. That's why he has come here. He has come to a club he has empathy with and he has had a period of frustration at his previous club where he obviously wasn't fit and even when he was fit he wasn't able to play week-in, week out.

"He is not going to get that hopefully if he get a fair run of games without injury which we think he will get that and it is up to him to make the most of that.

"I sense with Danny there is a little bit of frustration in terms of where his career was and what he has had to do to get back on track and now he is ready to go again.

"So we are going to reap the benefits of that and as a consequence of that I would imagine, further down the line, if he continues in the same vein and continues to score goals people will have to recognise that at international level as well.

"There is no doubt in my mind that he has the quality to play at that level. He is an intelligent boy. A guy that is creative in the key area of the field, has a good awareness of people around him and he is a goalscorer himself as well so a lot of the attributes you want from a frontline striker."
