How we rated Albion's players at St Mary's.
MATHEW RYAN 7: Preserved the point with his stoppage time save from a free-kick. He actually had a quiet night and was left helpless by Hojbjerg’s wonder strike and a precise Ings spot kick.
MARTIN MONTOYA 6: Given some problems by Redmond, who got outside him to set up an early chance. But can deliver a good ball if he gets forward.
SHANE DUFFY 8: A towering presence in both boxes. Defended well, saved a goal, scored one and then provoked panic to bring the spot kick.
LEWIS DUNK 6: A busy night. Plenty of sound defending but Ings was too clever for him outside the box in the run-up to the spot kick.
GAETAN BONG 6: Generally sound but stood and watched as Elyounoussi headed a good chance wide at 0-0 and was part of the penalty incident. Was booed throughout by home fans.
ANTHONY KNOCKAERT (above) 7: Very little seen of him in the first half but that changed dramatically. He warmed McCarthy’s palms after the break, set up a goal and almost teed up Jahanbakhsh.
DAVY PROPPER 6: Anonymous in the first half but showed some good poise and imagination on the ball early in the second and started the move from which he headed wide.
DALE STEPHENS 6: An unhappy first half in his deeper-lying position. Seemed devoid of passing options or too hesitant to find them when in possession. Better after the break.
YVES BISSOUMA 6: As expected, he at least injected first-half energy, some examples better directed than others, and one terrific burst down the middle lifted Albion fans.
SOLLY MARCH 5: Never looked like offering any threat down the left and was devoid of ideas in the first half. Better in the second to a degree before making way for Jahanbakhsh.
GLENN MURRAY 7: An evening spent chasing and harrying for much of the time. But there was only man you would have wanted on the hot spot for that high-tension equaliser.
SUBS
Alireza Jahanbakhsh: Added a bit of spark at a time when Albion were at their most forceful.
Jurgen Locadia: Struggled in attack and conceded a dangerous free-kick in added time.
