Keith Barker pinned three batsmen lbw to have Sussex on the ropes at Hove this afternoon.

Barker had openers Phil Salt and Danny Briggs plus Harry Finch all trapped playing in the crease as Sussex slumped to 14-3 replying to Warwickshire’s 440 all out.

Briggs, who usually goes in at No.11, instead faced first with opener Tom Haines missing due to an ankle injury sustained during the Warwickshire innings.

All three wickets fell in the space of 12 deliveries as Barker took the new ball from the Sea End.

The visitors, needing a draw to secure promotion, are in command of events on day two of the Specsavers County Championship tussle at Hove.

A good day for them was capped when fast bowler Olly Stone was named in the England ODI squad to go to Sri Lanka.

Sussex were 52-3 at tea with Luke Wells undefeated on 21 and Michael Burgess 17.

The home side had a purple patch during the afternoon by taking the final six wickets for 19 runs.

Jofra Archer took four wickets in 11 balls, including three clean bowled, to clear up the tail and finish with 4-66.
