Brian Owen and Andy Naylor rate the Albion players after last night's 2-1 home defeat by Tottenham.

MATHEW RYAN 8: Produced perhaps his best save yet this season from Alderweireld’s header and then denied one of the world's top strikers in Kane three times in the closing stages to keep his side in the game.

MARTIN MONTOYA 6: Given a tough task by the attacks of Rose down his flank and had mixed fortunes. Got an effort on target in added time.

SHANE DUFFY 7: No goal this time with the assistant’s flag correctly raised. Plenty of good defending until Spurs started to break through at will in the closing stages.

LEWIS DUNK 6: Plenty of work to get through. Was given a real challenge by Kane and did some good work without always being totally convincing.

GAETAN BONG 6: Conceded the debated free-kick which led to the penalty as he dived in on Kane. Better in the second half than first as Albion pushed on.

DAVY PROPPER 6: Began on the right of a midfield triangle, then dropped deeper when Stephens limped off. Best moment a slide-rule pass which Knockaert could not quite take in his stride.

DALE STEPHENS 5: Lasted less than a quarter of the match due to hamstring trouble. Rarely injured and Albion rely on him a lot in front of the back four, so it's a blow.

YVES BISSOUMA 6: Handed full home Premier League debut with Gross absent again. Switched from left to right in central midfield after Stephens injury. Improved second half before replaced.

ANTHONY KNOCKAERT 7: Albion's most effective attacker on his 100th start for the club. Took his goal well at the end but missed chance at 0-1 was costly.

GLENN MURRAY 6: Gave away the penalty with raised arm in the wall. Lacked support in the first half and no real sight of goal to add to his tally.

SOLLY MARCH 6: Few opportunities to test Tottenham in the opening 45, with Trippier playing high up the pitch. Let down by delivery second half before he was substituted.

Subs BERAM KAYAL 7: Did well deputising for Stephens and set up Knockaert's opportunity at 0-1.

ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH: Full league debut cannot be far away after more late minutes.

JURGEN LOCADIA: Brought on once the deficit doubled.
