Keeper Mathew Ryan felt Albion gave Tottenham too much respect as they suffered a 2-1 loss at the Amex tonight despite a late fightback.
A 42nd-minute Harry Kane penalty after a Glenn Murray handball gave Spurs a half-time lead.
Erik Lamela doubled their advantage in the 76th minute with a low strike on the counter attack before Albion winger Anthony Knockaert arrowed in a consolation in stoppage time.
Knockaert also had another sight of goal before the final whistle which was held by the keeper but No.1 Ryan felt Albion left it too late to earn anything from the game.
Asked if Seagulls had deserved anything, Ryan admitted: “Probably not in the end. Given the circumstances, we gave them too much respect and allowed them to do what they are good at.
“We did not put them under pressure as much as we would have liked.
“They came here off the back of a few losses and the pressure was on them and, in hindsight, I would have liked to have got at them more.
“We didn’t do as much as I’d have liked in the first half.”
