BOSS Chris Hughton wants a repeat of Albion’s performance at Liverpool in order to push Manchester City.

The Seagulls only lost 1-0 at Anfield last month against Jurgen Klopp’s team, who top the Premier League table after six games with a 100% record.

Champions City are two points behind them as Albion attempt to pull off a huge upset at the Etihad tomorrow.

Hughton, pictured, want his players to be inspired by the display they produced on Merseyside.

“A lot I hope,” he said. “We will speak about that.

“It’s the feel you can get from that and it’s what you have to do to get a result.

“There is no doubt we are playing a game at the weekend where they’re going to have the large majority of possession and they will test us for 90 minutes.

“We have to be defensively good, resilient, but you also have to be good on the ball because if you keep giving it back to them, generally there’s only one outcome.

“We’ll speak about what the players had to give in that Liverpool game to get as close as we did.”

Albion are as long as 40-1 with bookmakers to inflict a rare home defeat on City but Hughton is staying optimistic.

He said: “Irrespective of the differences in the level of the two teams and quality of the two teams, there isn’t ever any game we go into thinking we’re going to get beat.

“The law of averages says we will but you can never go into any game thinking that way.

“You have to look at the good examples you’ve had, particularly away from home and particularly at one of the big clubs, and try to get as close to that as you can.”

Albion have yet to take a point away from home against one of the top six.

The closest they came was at Anfield and against Manchester United at Old Trafford last season, when they also lost 1-0.
