Solly March has revealed his long term goal - to play for England at the next World Cup.

March played for England under-21s under Gareth Southgate.

The Albion winger will be 28 when the 2022 World Cup is held in Qatar and he is keen to force his way back into Southgate’s plans at senior level.

March told The Argus: “It’s a long-term goal more than anything.

“Obviously it’s something you want to do, play for your country. I’ve got to play consistently for a long period of time before that does happen.

“I don’t see why that can’t happen if I get my head down, work hard and improve parts of my game. As a long-term goal it would be great.

“There’s a long time until that and it’s a long time to improve your game and show people that I am better.

“It’s a long way off but as a long-term goal it’s definitely got to be high.”

March has started all six of Albion’s Premier League matches so far this season.

“You need to start more games,” he said. “I don’t want to have a label on me as a super sub. I want to start games and affect games from the first minute.

“I think that’s what I’ve started to do and adding more goals and assists will be a better reflection of me. That’s what I’ve got to add to my game and hopefully I can do that now after a good start.”

March comes up against England defender Kyle Walker as Albion attempt to upset champions Manchester City at the Etihad today.

“He is probably one of the best full-backs in the league,” March said. “You’ve just got to take it in your stride and go for it.

“He’s just a powerful athlete and he seems in the last few years to have just gone to that next level.

“These are the players you want to test yourself against. I’ll look forward to it.

“We’ve just got to stick to our game plan. There is nothing to lose in a way, as long as we don’t get embarrassed.

“If we go there and just frustrate them and make it as hard as we can for them, you never know. Anything can happen and maybe with a bit of luck we can get something from it.”
