GLENN Murray will still be an Albion player next season – if he keeps on performing.

The Argus understands a provisional agreement is in place over a new contract for the experienced marksman.

Murray, 35 last week, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The club have a firm policy on the structure of contract renewals for older players.

But they are also keen to recognise Murray’s key contribution to their progress since rejoining the club.

He returned from Bournemouth on a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2017 after helping the Seagulls to the League One title in his first spell.

Murray has scored 39 goals in 85 league appearances in his second stint and 98 overall.

He spearheaded Albion’s promotion to the Premier League and survival last season, finishing top scorer both times, and has netted four times in seven games so far this term.

Former Albion defender James Tunnicliffe, Murray’s representative, told The Argus: “Glenn’s happy and I think his performances are showing that. He’s just focused on continuing to perform.”

Murray was rested by Chris Hughton for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against champions Manchester City at the Etihad.

He is expected to return to lead the attack against West Ham at the Amex on Friday (8pm).
