Solly March relished his revised role in Albion's win over West Ham.

March was shifted from the left-wing to the No.10 position at the Amex last night, as Alireza Jahanbakhsh made his full Premier League debut and Pascal Gross remained sidelined by ankle trouble.

March told The Argus: "It was a different role, one I've only played a couple of times, you learn as you play.

"It was a hard-working performance from everyone. I played there at Chelsea last year, but that was a different formation. With just the two behind you it's a completely different role. I enjoyed it. It was tough, but you learn the more roles you play.

"The manager told me keep the ball as much as you can. But it was hard because we didn't keep the ball as much as we usually do against the lesser sides. He said to make runs in behind which I did a couple of times."

Albion are up to 12th ahead of the rest of the fixtures over the weekend, above West Ham in 15th by a point.

They head into the international break and their next match at Newcastle in a fortnight with eight points from as many matches after a tough group of fixtures.

March said: "It was exactly what we needed. We weren't anywhere near our best but we grinded it out, got the three points and I'm delighted.

"It looks a lot more positive now. We still could have had a few more victories, but with the run coming up we can keep climbing up the table.

"It'll be good to get a bit of a rest, maybe a few days away. Once I've had a few days I'll be ready and raring to go again."
