How Albion players rated against West Ham...
MATHEW RYAN 7: No wonder saves this time but a lot of safe and secure handling, especially when the heat was turned up in the second half. A good take under pressure to end the evening.
BRUNO 7: The skipper marked his return with a crucial foot in to deny Arnautovic in the first half. Defended really well if not at his best on the ball.
SHANE DUFFY 8: Celebrated his new deal with the clean sheet he craved. So much good defending in what turned into a frantic second half.
LEWIS DUNK 8: Ended the match taking the television plaudits with his sidekick Duffy and going home with a new contract. Fair enough. It was hard to separate them in terms of performance too.
GAETAN BONG 7: Had to show his pace when given a through defensive test in the second period. Came through well and was a diligent defender.
ANTHONY KNOCKAERT 7: Very busy, mainly wide on the right, and had his side’s first shot. Easy to love what he brings - and to sometimes wish he'd be more careful with the end product.
DAVY PROPPER 7: A deep-lying, steadying role in midfield which, without attracting great attention, was essential to the overall plan. Got on the ball to re-establish some order after that torrid start to the second half. Injured doing his defensive bit.
BERAM KAYAL 8: Excellent. Offers a real spark in midfield and that was best illustrated on his work to win and then use the ball to devastating effect for the only goal.
ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH, above, 7: Got the first start he felt he was ready for and did not disappoint. Drilled a low shot straight at Fabianski but his best moment was the near-post run which attracted the defence helped Murray score.
SOLLY MARCH 6: Played in the No.10 role, which was an enterprising choice, and did not always look at home. But was keen to get on the ball and played his part in a great result.
GLENN MURRAY 7: Back on the scoresheet with an expertly guided finish wide of Fabianski when many strikers might have blasted straight at the keeper. A strong all-round performance, especially in the first half, although he also went close with his head in the second.
SUBS
Jose Izquierdo: Looked really bright on his Amex return.
Yves Bissouma: Didn’t really get to grips with his defensive mission and was lured out of the shape at times.
Jurgen Locadia: Had a goal disallowed and defended from the front.
