Albion signing Dan Burn made an unfortunate return from injury for Wigan in the Championship.
The giant central defender, who joins the Seagulls in January, conceded a penalty, was booked and scored a 96th minute own goal in their 4-0 defeat at Preston.
Burn was introduced in first half stoppage time for injured ex-Albion transfer target Nick Powell.
Albion signed him in August, then immediately loaned him back to Wigan to recover from a broken foot bone and gain game time.
Albion will not be worried by Burn's uncomfortable comeback.
Fellow central defender Shane Duffy, just awarded a new five-year deal, had a torrid period with own goals just before joining the Seagulls from Blackburn in August 2016.
