Albion could give one of their back-up keepers valuable game time tonight.

The development squad take on Peterborough’s senior squad at London Road in the Checkatrade Trophy (7.45pm) and have a handful of players on international duty.

They include Finnish under-21 international Hugo Keto, who has been a regular between the sticks in the under-23s this season.

The Seagulls, who field an under-21 side with licence for over-age players in the Trophy, fielded Jason Steele in their opening group game at Luton.

Both Steele and David Button have been short of paying time so far this season.

Brighton-born defender Haydon Roberts (England under-17s) plus wingers Anders Dreyer (Denmark under-21s) and Viktor Gyokeres (Sweden under-21s) are among Albion’s younger call-ups for this international break.

Senior keeper Mathew Ryan has been allowed to rest rather than join up with the Australia squad for a friendly in Kuwait.

Socceroos boss Graham Arnold revealed Ryan has been managing “a minor injury” and added: “For this window we believe it is best that he remains in Brighton and returns to full fitness with his club.”

The unspecified injury has not prevented Ryan from playing for Albion and his club are believed not to be concerned over their No.1, who kept a clean sheet against West Ham on Friday.

Peterborough, second in League One, suffered a shock defeat at home to Barnsley on Saturday and are expected to field a strong side against the young Seagulls tonight.
