Bruno has admitted he proved a point to himself on his successful return to the Premier League.

The Albion skipper has a win and a clean sheet under his belt after helping his side beat West Ham on Friday.

It was his first full game of the season and his first home start for five months.

Bruno, who turned 38 last Monday, has admitted to some self-doubts over his future as a starter in the ultra-competitive top-flight.

He has had to play second fiddle to compatriot Martin Montoya since suffering a hamstring injury 20 minutes into the season at Watford.

Bruno told The Argus: "It was a massive challenge to prove again I can play at this level.

"It's not easy every game to have to prove that.

"But I had to prove it to myself and to everyone as well."

Albion fans breathed a sigh of relief after their side held on against the Hammers.

But Bruno believes they must improve on Friday's display.

He said: “Of course, there is always a lot of stuff to improve.

“We need to improve on our game in possession.

“We need to improve in giving options and keeping the ball much better."
