LEWIS DUNK’S former skipper Gordon Greer has revealed why he believes the Albion centre-back is on the verge of an international debut.

Dunk will become England’s first international since Steve Foster at the 1982 World Cup if he gets on in Croatia tonight. He will have another chance when the Nations League show moves on to Seville on Monday.

Greer, who also made an international debut while at Albion, says his former sidekick has grown up as a player.

The ex-Seagulls skipper told The Argus: “It’s his decision-making.

“As a defender, it’s always about decision-making.

“Do you make the right decisions at the right times. You try and do the best you can with the knowledge you have got. I think over time Dunky has developed that and he is a fantastic player.”

Dunk’s sidekick Shane Duffy is set to play for the Republic of Ireland against Denmark tomorrow.

Greer, who earned all 11 of his Scotland caps while at the Amex, said: “I think they complement each other. Shane is one of the best I’ve seen at going to attack the ball, he’s unbelievable. Dunky is very calm in possession and I’ve got high hopes for both of them.”
