BERAM KAYAL has pleaded for patience with Yves Bissouma as Albion’s midfield summer signing settles into the Premier League.

The Seagulls bolstered their options by buying Mali international Bissouma from French club Lille for just under £14 million.

The 22-year-old has been involved in the starting line-up or as a substitute in all eight Premier League and Carabao Cup matches this season, with mixed results.

Fellow midfielder Kayal told The Argus: “He doesn’t speak too much English but he’s come to help us.

“It’s hard. He needs the time, every player needs time. He is still young but in a lot of things you can see the potential.

“He needs to learn the game more and more and the league. It will take him time. Everyone can see the talent he has. Especially when you are coming from league to league you need time to adapt.”

Bissouma’s arrival signalled the end of Albion’s interest in Isaac Hayden from Newcastle, Albion’s hosts on Saturday. Isaac was an unused substitute when Newcastle surrendered an early two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Manchester United at Old Trafford in their last outing.

Albion boss Chris Hughton is weighing up his midfield options for the return to the club he steered to the Championship title earlier in his managerial career.

In-form Kayal is likely to figure in the starting line-up but Dale Stephens has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury and regular partner Davy Propper suffered ankle damage in the home win against West Ham before the international break.

Bissouma’s Mali drew 1-1 in Burundi yesterday in an African Nations Cup qualifier.
