ALBION boss Chris Hughton is weighing up whether to recall Martin Montoya after revealing he left the Spaniard out against West Ham.

Hughton has decisions to make in both full-back positions at Newcastle tomorrow, with Gaetan Bong among a trio of players facing late fitness tests.

He also has to cater for the absence from midfield of Davy Propper for several weeks.

Propper suffered ankle ligament damage in the 1-0 home win against Hammers before the international break, when veteran captain Bruno returned at right-back at the expense of fellow countryman Montoya.

Hughton told The Argus: "It was just selection. I have at the moment competition in all all areas.

"Davy Propper gives us one less in that midfield area where we have got four players.

"But we've got good competition. Bernardo at left-back, who has been on the bench, is really pushing, (Leon) Balogun and in the front area."

Late decisions will be made on Bong (knee), Pascal Gross (ankle) and Dale Stephens (hamstring) for the trip to St James' Park.

Bong went away with Cameroon for their African Nations Cup qualifying double-header against Malawi but played no part in the matches.

Hughton said: "He had a little knock after West Ham which he didn't think was too much of a problem. The first (Cameroon) game was on a synthetic pitch which could have made the problem worse.

"We were comfortable with him being there because we knew it was minor and one that would probably keep him out of one or two of the games.

"It's credit to the Cameroon Association. They've dealt with it very well, because sometimes you can have a situation where somebody goes away, they are not quite right, they end up playing and we have a player that comes back injured.

"So I think the Cameroon FA have dealt with it very well and we have a player we hope who has come back okay. It's his knee but we know it's very minor. We'll make a decision whether he has done enough to play on Saturday."
