Dani Buet has been described as the player who makes Albion tick.

That is why they will need her to be in top form when mighty Manchester City visit tomorrow (2pm).

Albion have their first point and goals of the season thanks to Sunday’s 3-3 draw at Everton.

Their first-ever goal in the top-tier FA WSL came courtesy of a terrific strike by Buet which found the top corner from outside the penalty area.

The former Chelsea midfielder also supplied the free-kicks for both Ellie Brazil headers which dragged them back from 3-1 down in the last 20 minutes.

Albion boss Hope Powell has spoken of Buet’s importance to the team – and why she made her captain.

The Argus:

Nikita Parris is on song for City

Powell told The Argus: “Dani has a massive role. We had a chat early in the season about how crucial she is, her voice.

“She is one of the more experienced players in the squad, hence she is now the captain.

“She leads by example 99% of the time. The 1%, we all talk about!

“But she and he is a very good leader.

“It’s almost if she is on her game, she brings everybody with her.

“Every week we need her on her game. She has knowledge and an understanding of what is required and she is the person out there who tries to make sure the players deliver it.”

Buet said: “What Hope says is lovely but it’s more about everyone else and performing as a team. We all work together.

“They help me out during a game and I’ll try and help them out.

“It’s an honour to be captain and I completely respect the responsibility that comes with it.

“I’ve covered as captain before at other clubs but this is the first team I’ve captained (full-time).

“But, when Hope asks you to do something, you tend to listen!

“There is a bit of pressure but pressure is fun, right? I enjoy it.”

City come into the match needing points to keep close to leaders Arsenal.

They thrashed West Ham 7-1 at the Etihad last week with Nikita Parris and Georgia Stanway scoring two apiece.

Their side also includes England stars Steph Houghton and Jill Scott.

Lewes Women go to London Bees at The Hive tomorrow (2pm) in the Championship aiming to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Tottenham at the Dripping Pan.
