Glenn Murray has been given the all-clear following a scan after being knocked out at St James Park.

The Albion striker was down for several minutes after a clash with Newcastle defender Federico Fernandez early in today’s game at St James’ Park.

Fernandez went to head a high ball near halfway but instead met the back of Murray’s head.

Players near the scenes signalled urgently for medical attention for the two players and Bruno went straight to Murray to offer assistance or comfort.

Fernandez was fit to continue but Murray was eventually stretchered off – to rapturous applause from fans on all sides of the ground.

He was later reported to be awake in the changing room and ready to go for a scan.

That led to him receiving the all-clear to rejoin his colleagues at St James' Park before returning to Sussex.

Murray had hoped to score his 100th goal for the club today, which would have sent him clear of ex-Albion and Newcastle striker Kit Napier as the Seagulls’ leading post war scorer.
