Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez claimed Albion should not have been awarded the corner which led to their winner at St James' Park today.
Alirez Jahanbakhsh's corner in the first half was headed back by Shane Duffy for Jose Izquierdo to strike a shot which Beram Kayal deflected in.
Benitez was frustrated by a fifth straight home defeat which leaves Newcastle still winless and now bottom of the Premier League table.
He said: "Everybody can see the team was trying everything. We were in control, we had 27 attempts, corners, free-kicks. They had a corner that wasn't a corner and scored.
"Obviously we have to be more clinical and precise in the final third. They did well, they managed the game well, wasted time, did what they had to do to get a result.
"At the moment it's a difficult task."
