CHRIS Hughton insists he was not concerned about Albion's travel sickness after ending the 11-month wait for an away win at his old club Newcastle.

Beram Kayal's first half flick from Jose Izquierdo's shot secured the points at St James' Park, exactly a year after the Seagulls' opening Premier League victory at West Ham.

The second came immediately after last season at Swansea in November.

Boss Hughton told The Argus: "I've made less of it than others have. If you guarantee me we'd pick up enough points in a season to finish in a decent position and not do well away from home then I would settle for that.

"It's harder for teams like ourselves away from home. What pleased me most was the manner of how we did it.

"We had to run, get tackles in, graft. We needed a goalkeeper that played well and we neded two centre-halves who I thought were outstanding. We needed that type of performance to get the win."

The shut-out for keeper Mathew Ryan, central defenders Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy and their team-mates followed the first of the season in the 1-0 home win over West Ham.

Hughton said: "We spoke before the West Ham game that we need to try to get back to clean sheets. Certainly over the seasons I've been here that's been the basis of what we do and the quality.

"Probably we've got more offensive qualities and options than we've had but it's very hard in this division, particularly away from home. It's really pleasing and something to build on."
