Mark Davis is still waiting for a first ranking title after former world champion Stuart Bingham won the English Open with a 9-7 victory in Crawley tonight.
Davis, 46, from St Leonards, hammered Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-1 on Saturday to reach his first ranking final but lost out in a neck and neck battle at the K2 to his good friend.
Davis called a foul on himself for feathering the cue ball in the tenth frame when on a break of 40.
Bingham admitted the show of sportsmanship could have been a pivotal moment on the way to banking the £70,000 top prize.
He told Eurosport: "At 5-4, what a big turning point, fair play to Mark for owning up. Had it been 6-4 I'd have been fearing the worst."
