Bernardo has praised Albion’s youngsters after enjoying a welcome 90 minutes.
The full-back followed his substitute appearance with the seniors on the right at Newcastle by playing a full game on the left for the under-23s against Benfica.
He said: “We played a really good game and for me it was good to get some minutes. The tempo was really high, very similar to what I’ll see in the first team.
“It was good training for me and very good experience.
“Brighton has really good young players. There are individual players who can shine in the first team in the future.”
Goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Aaron Connolly gave Albion a 2-0 win in the Premier League International Cup.
