Albion will try to prove a point at the Amex today - if Glenn Murray is ruled out with Pascal Gross.

The Seagulls have lost and failed to score on all four occasions that main goalscorers Murray and Gross have been missing from the starting line-up simultaneously in the Premier League.

A late call will be made for today’s visit of Wolves on leading marksman Murray, who was knocked unconscious and swallowed his tongue at Newcastle last week.

Gross is definitely out for the sixth match running with ankle trouble.

Manager Chris Hughton told The Argus: “You don’t want to have to rely on individual players.

“Glenn has obviously been very good for us as regards the goals he has scored and we know the influence of Pascal but you want to be able to use the squad and see each player as important, maybe in a different way than others.

“It’s big for us. We are trying to build a really competitive squad here.

“You have to take into the equation at the start of the season players are going to be injured, miss games. The moment you start relying on those players it becomes harder.”

The clash against Wanderers could provide Albion with their best chance so far of showing they can cope without Murray and Gross, responsible for 25 of the 44 Premier League goals.

They were rested to the bench for defeats at Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool last season.

Gross was sidelined and Murray rested again for last month’s defeat at champions Manchester City.
