Viktor Gyokeres took another small but significant step in his highly-promising Albion career today.
He was named in his first Premier League squad as Chris Hughton looked to his under-23s.
The Sweden under-21 international was selected on the bench for the first time in the top flight as the Seagulls prepared to take on Cardiff City.
He was named in the 18 due to injury to Alireza Jahanbakhsh and illness which has affected Jurgen Locadia.
Gyokeres, 20, became an Albion player on January 1 this year and has been one of the stars of their impressive under-23s side, usually operating wide on the left.
He played in the Carabao Cup tie against Southampton at the Amex this season as well as facing strong Luton and Peterborough sides in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Central striker Aaron Connolly also travelled to South Wales, although he was not named in the 18.
The under-23s aim to qualify from their Trophy group when they visit League Two high-flyers MK Dons on Tuesday.
Albion: Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bong; Knockaert, Stephens, Kayal, Izquierdo; March; Murray. Subs: Steele, Bruno, Bissouma, Andone, Balogun, Bernardo, Gyokeres.
