SOLLY MARCH has revealed why he will be a better player after his stint at No.10.

The Albion winger has taken on a new role in recent games due to injury to Pascal Gross.

He could revert to a wide berth when Gross returns from an ankle problem after the current international break.

March believes he has been improving in his new position and that the experience will serve him well in the future.

He told The Argus: “I’m enjoying it. I have had more success in the last few games, I think, which is probably to be expected as I’m still getting to know the position.

“Everyone has been helping me out as much as they can.

“The more positions you can play, I guess the better.

“The more you learn about the game, I suppose maybe when you go back to the wing again you can see where the spaces are for you.

“You can see different areas people come in, full-backs especially.

“You can see when they press and when they don’t and where the space is.”

March, who forced the free-kick from which he set up Lewis Dunk to score at Cardiff, believes he has been getting to grips with the new position.

He added: “The more I play it, the better I think I’ll get in there, “I haven’t played there too much and it’s different to playing on the wing.

“Defensive positioning and trying to get on the ball are different so it is learning the game.

“Off the ball as well – the way to press, who to pick up and when to pick them up. I’m learning it.”

March saw his promising afternoon at Cardiff cut short when he was taken off after Dale Stephens’ red card.

Chris Hughton sent on Yves Bissouma to fill the midfield void left by Stephens.

The Albion manager said: “The shame was that probably might have been his best spell for us, certainly his most threatening spell.

“It was difficult because it was either Solly or one of the wide ones. It was probably harsh on him.”
