Anthony Knockaert is poised to keep his place for Albion against former club Leicester and a showdown with England left-back Ben Chilwell.

Record signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh is unlikely to be risked for Saturday’s clash at the Amex.

Jahanbakhsh has continued to receive treatment from Albion’s medical staff for a hamstring injury which ruled him out of international duty for Iran.

The £17 million winger sustained the damage in the defeat at Everton earlier this month.

That prompted a recall to the starting line-up for Knockaert for Albion’s last-gasp setback at Cardiff prior to the international break.

Albion will not want to take any chances with Jahanbakhsh’s recovery.

After Leicester they face in the space of eight days trips away to Huddersfield and Burnley, with the visit of traditional rivals Crystal Palace in-between.

The gruelling flurry will stretch Chris Hughton’s squad and deter hurrying Jahanbakhsh back into action.

Knockaert lost his place on the right last month for consecutive 1-0 wins away to Newcastle and at home to Wolves as Hughton opted for Jahanbakhsh and fit-again Colombian Jose Izquierdo on the flanks.

Hughton was quick to point out the Frenchman, who spent three years at Leicester, was a victim of stiff competition rather than poor form.

Hughton’s wide choices will increase once Jahanbakhsh and Pascal Gross are available to start.

Winger Solly March has been deputising for Gross in the No.10 role during the German’s absence since the start of September with ankle trouble.

Leicester defender Chilwell has impressed since forcing his way into Gareth England’s side and helping them qualify for next summer’s Nations League semi-finals.

Albion centre-half Lewis Dunk played alongside Chilwell in the back four when making his debut in last week’s 3-0 friendly victory over the USA at Wembley.

Leicester, already without one of Dunk’s England rivals Harry Maguire through injury, will also check on influential midfielder James Maddison (knee).
