Bernardo has told Albion fans there is more to come after a long-awaited Premier League home debut.

The Brazilian left-back impressed after being preferred to Gaetan Bong for the visit of Leicester.

It was the summer signing’s first league start since the opening day defeat at Watford 15 weeks previously.

Bernardo lost his place to Bong after that 2-0 reverse but his efforts earned sponsors’ man of the match honours this time.

He told The Argus: “Compared to the first match I think this was a much better impression of myself.

“But I don’t think it was the best one still.

“I think I can develop further and I can show more.

“For sure it leaves a better impression and it takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders.”

Bernardo admitted he was keen to show supporters what he could do.

He added: “I don’t know how many weeks I was thinking that I needed to perform when I got my chance.

“Otherwise nothing would change.”

Bernardo said Albion lost focus against ten men and must see games out.

Asked what they had learnt from the 1-1 draw, he said: “Maybe to keep a high level of concentration, even when we have a player more, even when the match seems to be a bit more controlled.

“Maybe Leicester deserved it but sometimes the opponent don’t even deserve it and they have one chance and they score and it’s 1-1.”
