Jofra Archer says he would love to make his England debut this winter after being cleared for action.

Archer, the Sussex all-rounder born in Barbados, is eligible for the tour to the West Indies in January after the ECB cut eligibility criteria from seven years to three at its board meeting at Lord's yesterday.

Archer previously thought he would have to wait until 2022 to be available for England.

He could now be picked to play back in the Caribbean.

Archer tweeted today: β€œIt may or may not happen but I would love to debut in front of my family.”

The change in regulations will not surprise key figures at Sussex, including chief executive Rob Andrew and head coach Jason Gillespie.

They have been aware for a while that the time could come when they see precious little of one of their prized assets during the domestic season.
