Albion's wage bill has rocketed since promotion to the Premier League.
But it is still way below the top flight average.
Football finance expert and Albion fan Kieran Maguire has analysed the club's 2017-18 accounts for The Argus.
Wages were £77 million compared to a Premier League average of £127 million.
Albion's £139 million income was almost as much as the £147 million they accumulated in six years in the Championship.
Owner-chairman Tony Bloom invested a further £32 million. He is now owed £222 million plus £90 million in shares.
Maguire says the accounts reveal a clear strategy to avoid financial meltdown if Albion had been relegated straight back to the Championship.
