SOLLY MARCH has urged Albion to press more against the big guns of the Premier League.

The Seagulls lost 2-1 to Chelsea at the Amex yesterday, their second home defeat of the season.

The other was by the same score against Spurs and, although Albion have beaten Manchester United (twice) and Arsenal at home since promotion, March believes they should be less fearful.

The winger, who brought Albion back into the game in the second half with his first goal for 15 months, told The Argus: “Probably we should have started the game like that.

“We’ll look back and maybe we should have pressed them a bit higher, rather than giving them too much time on the ball.

“The first half was frustrating and disappointing. Everyone looked a bit off it, me personally as well. Second half we did give it a go in the end.”

Albion were 2-0 down in 33 minutes to goals by Pedro and Eden Hazard. March could not pinpoint the reason for the second-half improvement.

“Not really, no,” he said. “Our game plan didn’t really change much. Maybe there was nothing to lose in the end but there’s not at the start of the game so maybe it’s just a mentality thing.

“It’s a hurdle we need to get over more often and press against the big teams. There’s nothing to lose against these big teams, we are not expected to take anything. So why not give them more of a game and show them what we are about.”

Albion are 13th, nine points above the relegation zone, five above Newcastle in 14th and two places and two points below Saturday’s hosts Bournemouth.
