KEEPER Mathew Ryan believes Albion made Unai Emery’s Arsenal look as fragile as they were towards the end of Arsene Wenger’s reign.

But the Australian No.1 is heading off to the Asian Cup today in the United Arab Emirates frustrated the Seagulls did not repeat their 2-1 win against Wenger’s Gunners at the Amex in March.

Ryan made key saves to foil the Premier League’s leading marksman, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, either side of the Arsenal goal scorer’s early strike in the 1-1 draw.

Ryan told The Argus: “Probably on the balance of the game, the way things unfolded, we got what we deserved.

“Defensively we were pretty poor how we started the game, knowing full well they like to use their pace up front and get in behind.

“I think we were allowing it too easily in the first 20-25 minutes.

“After that, when we got the goal and got back in the game, I don’t think they really threatened too much.

“I felt at 1-1 the way the game was unfolding, we were putting them under pressure in the right areas at the right times.

“I think a few of their frailties from the beginning of the year were resurfacing a little bit in terms of their composure on the ball.

“We were getting a little bit of joy from that and had a couple of occasions where we were (bearing) down on goal but lacked that bit of clinical finishing to score again.

“We only leave with a point, so that’s probably the reason why I feel like it was two points dropped, especially here (Amex).”

David Button, back on the bench yesterday, or Jason Steele will replace Ryan at home to Everton on Saturday.
