Bernardo is on course for Liverpool's Premier League visit to Albion in nine days time.

The Brazilian left-back went off with hamstring tightness towards the end of last night's 2-2 draw at west Ham.

Bernardo would almost certainly have been rested in any case for Saturday's FA Cup third round tie at Bournemouth, when Chris Hughton is likely to make multiple changes.

Hughton said of Bernardo: "He's certainly better this morning. We are hoping it's more fatigue, just felt his hamstring."

Jose Izquierdo (knee) is still out. Hughton has confirmed Jason Steele will make his debut in goal in the Bournemouth tie, while Viktor Gyokeres will be the only under-23s player in the squad.

Hughton does not expect the Swede to go out on loan this month but prolific under-23s's team-mate Aaron Connolly could.

The Republic of Ireland striker has been linked with several clubs, including Celtic.

Hughton said: "With how well he has done in the under-23s the interest in him is normal.

"It's about the offers that come in. Do we want him around or is it best for his development to go out on loan? He is in a good place at the moment."
